‘Sex and the City’: Manolo Blahnik bites the hand that feeds him
Designer Manolo Blahnik never wanted to be a “celebrity designer,” but after years of having his name bandied about in reverential tones on “Sex and the City” that’s exactly what happened.
Blahnik tells the Sunday Telegraph, “If people talk to me about ‘Sex and the City’ I get sick … It becomes too much and I don’t feel comfortable.”
Oh, it’s hard to be a success.
Adding insult to injury, if it weren’t for the first “Sex and the City” movie, Blahnik may have gone under last year.
“We had a very good year last year, thanks to those stupid Manolo Blahnik satin shoes. That shoe saved our company,” he admits, referring to the $895 royal blue pumps with crystal buckle that were to be the first occupants of Carrie’s closet in her and Big’s new home.
So will “Sex and the City 2″ fuel Blahnik’s hatred? Maybe, but for entirely different reasons. Word from the set is that Carrie Bradshaw has switched her allegiance to the red soles of Christian Louboutin.
Think Green McQueen
Manolo says, for some reason the Manolo woke up this morning thinking about the green colored shoes, and how difficult they are to wear properly.
For the example, here are the beautiful Alexander McQueen peep-toe pumps in the lovely green color.
The possibilities for these marvelous shoes must be quite limited, indeed, they are perhaps wearable only with the cream or gold colored gown.
Maybe the Manolo should revive the “Build the Outfit” game, as the Manolo would be very interested in seeing what his internet friends could devise for these.

Carrie’s closet that Mr. Big built for her in the Sex and the City movie was unbelievable. But what I was mesmerized over were her brand new Manolo Blahnik Something Blue Satin Pumps that she placed on her shoe rack the first time she saw it. They dazzled sitting there all alone, waiting for their Jimmy Choo and Christian louboutin pumps to join them. In the movie, they cost $525, but in real life, they’re more pricey. Not shocking. The reason Big is holding them here is because . . . well, you figure it out!
